Please Support Our Mission
Hamptons Observatory relies on people like you who believe in the power of learning about and sharing the wonders of the universe! Since 2005, we've been on a mission to educate, inspire, and foster an appreciation for our cosmic home through lectures by renowned speakers, star parties, portable planetarium shows for children, and much more. Remarkably, we've managed to achieve all of this with a budget of just $25K annually. By donating, you support the free public programs that fuel our mission to bring the universe closer to home.
Currently, we are also facing an additional expense: we need to build a new structure to house our research-grade telescope, that is, we need to build a new observatory. That project could cost over $50K. For years, we've been trying to make the most of a 45+ year old used, battered building that's seen better days. Despite extensive repair efforts, the old building has reached its limits--the panels it's constructed from have warped, other issues exist and new ones keep cropping up--in short, there's nothing more we can do to repair it. Consequently, we've had to temporarily halt the educational programs that involve the observatory. But don't worry, we're not giving up!
We're still working on our dream of creating a resource that can inspire and educate students, that can be a tool for teachers and researchers, as well as a gateway to the cosmos for you and for the community.
